Last night I had a phone conversation with an old friend from my religious days. We've stayed in touch over the years since I got out. We met 27 years at a Full Gospel Businessmen’s meeting that he was speaking at.

 

We’ve been friends ever since, sometimes very close friends.

 

While the Gospel led me out of my religious prison, he came out of Christianity as some do through simple attrition. He may not recognize it, but he's still in religion. As we spoke, I realized he was still being dominated and motivated in his mind and emotions by guilt, judgment, and performance anxiety. He just doesn’t go to church or read the Bible anymore. Like many former Christians, he does not want to have anything to do with words like Christ, Scriptures, Gospel, etc. It's understandable. Christianity has really done a number on so many Beautiful Humans. 

 

On last Wednesday’s Webcast we heard from Howard Wirch who along with his wife Manda drove 13 hours from Manitoba to attend the Grace Conference in Calgary last weekend. Anyway, among the things Howard said he and Manda came away with from the weekend was realizing how important exposing themselves daily to the Gospel actually is.

 

After the program last week, I spoke with another Gospel Revolutionary who said, “Now that was a Webcast! You guys keep raising the bar!” He then went on to tell me that earlier that day he was particularly bummed-out and knew he needed the effect of the Gospel on his soul. So, he said he went onto the archives on the website, picked a year (2007), and selected a date. It happened to be on his birthday that year. And I asked, “So?” And he said, “So, I got saved! It was wonderful, a little more basic than where we are five years later but as solid as it could be. Anyone would have benefited from it”.     

 

You guys, we need the Gospel’s effect on the brain—a lot. Of course, rehearsing the message of God and our oneness doesn’t do one thing for us vies-a-vies our relationship with God. What it does do is cleanses our souls and renews our minds. It does not change circumstances. That's not what it's for. However, it does alter to the good our ability to cope with the changes that come our way in this life simply because we live on a planet of chance.

 

What we need is what Mike calls CPR: the Consistent, Persistent, and Repetitive impact of the Gospel on our souls—our minds, on our intellect, emotions, and will. Michael in his imitable way of teaching in 3’s has done it again with CPR. It is a perfect way to remind ourselves how important consistent, persistent, and repetitive exposure to the Gospel actually is. I need to remind myself "You need CPR, Dummy!" 

 

However you do it, PLEASE do it. Talk about it, read about it, write about it, Facebook about it. Listen to Michael’s CDs, DVDs, YouTube, Kate Benham’s music, archived Webcasts. No matter how you do it, to quote a famous shoe company, “Just Do It”! Hey, another three-word way to remember something important.

            

Last night talking to my friend, who needs the Gospel so desperately, I did not feel one iota “better” than him.

 

I was just so grateful to know the Lord, the Power of His Resurrection, the Gospel.

 

There's that three-thing, again.

PLEDGE DRIVE THANK YOU GIFTS - We've sent out all the books by Steve and Aaron Essary entitled "The Hour We Least Expected" to those getting them as part of your Thank You Gifts from the last Pledge Drive.
